Like most teams around the NBA landscape, the New York Knicks have shifted their focus to the upcoming Draft, which is to be held on Thursday, June 21st. The Knickerbockers, who are currently holding the ninth pick, are said to have interest in quite a few players, including University of Oklahoma guard Trae Young.

The Knicks and Young recently met for dinner and a workout session, and both sides showed mutual interest. However, according to a report from Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, the Knicks simply feel that Young will not be available at the No. 9 spot in the Draft.

Young, now 19 years of age, attended Norman North High School in his hometown of Norman, Oklahoma. Though he didn't play basketball in his freshman year at NNHS, Young strapped up with the team in his sophomore year, averaging 25 points, five assists and four rebounds per game.

He didn't stop there, though. In fact, as a senior at NNHS, the smooth-shooter averaged 34.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists, which led the Timberwolves to a 28–4 record and a runner-up spot in the 2016 Oklahoma Class 6A championship game.

As a freshman with Oklahoma, Young's game began to shine on TV sets around the globe. In his 32 appearances with the Sooners, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award winner racked up averages of 27.4 points on 42.2 percent shooting from the field (36.0 percent from beyond the arc), 8.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 35.4 minutes per game.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 180 lbs, Young is (and has been) a highly-touted prospect. Some have likened his game to that of Stephen Curry's, though both have downplayed the comparison.

Whether or not the Knicks will be able to land Young with the ninth pick remains to be seen, but it sounds like they're interested.
