Trae Young is expected to be taken before the New York Knicks make their selection with the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft, but Young really likes what he saw during his workout with the team.

The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers both need a point guard and select before the Knicks, but if Young did end up falling to nine, he wouldn't be disappointed.

“I really like it, I really like Coach Fizz and the whole organization,’’ said Young, who is in New York via WFAN. “I got to spend some time with them on my workout out here. I had a really good workout for them. It’s just overall a good experience, a good time out here in New York. So if something happens and I end up here, it’d be a great situation.”

Young said in the interview that he was really excited to meet coach Fizdale because he's well-known for being a players' coach, and that is the type of guy he wants to play for in the NBA. Young also said he is really drawn to playing in New York just because of the history surrounds New York basketball and Madison Square Garden.

“The history behind the Garden and all the players that have come through and played on that court in the Garden, I think that the history is the reason why it still is, in my mind, the mecca of basketball,’’ Young said. “It definitely draws me in, that’s the thing about New York, that’s a big thing about the history, and the Garden is a big part of that.”

Young wants to be selected as high as possible on Thursday night, but falling to the Knicks could actually be the best case scenario.
