26 years is how long it took for John Starks' New York Knicks feat to be matched. On Tuesday night, Trey Burke came off the bench and ruled the hardcourt by pouring in 29 points and notching 11 assists:

It was all worth it as the struggling Knicks beat the Boston Celtics in their own home, 117-109.

On March 31, 1992, Starks was the last Knicks bench player to register 25+ points and 10 rebounds in the same game for their team. Starks did it in a 96-90 loss against the Bulls.

Starks was known as a dominant sixth man for the Knicks because of his ability to contribute from the bench. In eight seasons in The Big Apple, he played in 602 games and started only 275 times. He notched 14.1 points and 4.0 assists per game in that span.

Trey Burke is averaging 12.6 points and 3.2 assists in his second season with the Knicks. He has played in 15 contests but has only started five times.

In four straight games this season, Burke was explosive from the bench. He scored 24 points against the New Orleans Pelicans last Friday, 31 points against the Orlando Magic last Sunday, 19 points against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday and 29 points in the aforementioned win versus the Celtics.

The Knicks recently made some adjustments to their lineup, but whether he starts or not, Trey Burke seems to be comfortable with his role with the team.
