New York Knicks legend Walt Frazier says the Knicks are the perfect franchise for Kevin Durant to join if he wants to join or pass Michael Jordan and LeBron James on the Mount Rushmore of NBA players.

Kevin Durant can become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends if he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Golden State Warriors. KD has won two straight titles since joining Golden State back in 2016, and barring something unforeseen, the Warriors and Durant will probably win their third straight ring this season.

Durant will decline that player option because he can earn more money on the open market. The scoring machine has been linked to signing with the Knicks, and Walt Frazier says KD should come to the Big Apple so he can maybe surpass the legacies of Jordan and James.

“I think that’s what he needs,” Frazier told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “Especially if the Warriors win this year, I think he’d be looking for a different challenge.

“I don’t know a better place than New York where he can do it. Where else could he go to get what he’s looking for, to be the best in the game? If he could bring a title to New York, that’s going to catapult him with Jordan and LeBron, I would think.”

Frazier is right in the sense that if Kevin Durant brought a championship to New York, it would help his legacy. Durant is already a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but his image took a hit when he joined the Warriors. A lot of people think KD just hopped on the Warriors' bandwagon to win titles.

LeBron James currently has three championships on his résumé. Michael Jordan has six and MJ went 6-0 in the Finals. Durant could maybe pass James in terms of legacies if he won a championship with the Knicks, but he would still have a long ways to go to pass His Airness.
