New York Knicks legend and broadcaster Walt Frazier expressed some cautious optimism when it comes to next offseason. The Knicks have already kicked a plan in gear in hopes of reeling in one or more max-level stars to The Big Apple.

If Kristaps Porzingis is extended to a max deal, that would leave enough salary cap space for another star to join them, but Clyde is only 50 percent sure that will take place.

“Probably 50-50,” said Frazier of the Knicks' possibilities to reel in a star during an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “You never know what these guys are thinking today. I mean, it's not something that I would have done. I would have never joined (Jerry) West or (Bill) Russell or (Wilt) Chamberlain. You know, I want to kick their butt. But today's players, they have this camaraderie. They want to play together. Melo going to Houston. With Chris Paul, they've had that going on a long time that they wanted to be teammates. So it's a possibility that these guys might get together and come to New York or whatever.”

The likes of Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler have been rumored to be potentially interested in teaming up in New York, but that proposition could still be a reach, given that the two players would have to make concessions on a max salary to play alongside Porzingis if the team chooses to re-sign him to a long-term deal.

There have also been rumblings about Kevin Durant, though that's even more of a long shot.
