Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is no stranger to incredible scoring explosions. In fact, the two-time MVP and six-time All-Star is the current leader in single-game scoring this season with his staggering 62-point game against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, on Tuesday night, it was another sweet-shooting guard who took the cake in terms of flamethrowing: New York Knicks sharpshooter Austin Rivers.

Rivers put up 25 points on an astonishing 10-of-10 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from downtown in the first half against the Utah Jazz, prompting the Warriors star to react.

For what it's worth, Curry could only react with awe to the performance of the Knicks guard:

According to ESPN Stats and Info, Rivers is the first player over 25 years to score that many points and be perfect from the field simultaneously–both for the Knicks and NBA. With that said, the reaction of the Warriors superstar is not that surprising.

The Knicks are actually quite respectable in their first season with Tom Thibodeau as the team’s head coach. For his part, Rivers is having his career-best 3-point shooting season in 2020-21 with a 38.9 percent clip from downtown on 4.5 attempts per game.

Funnily enough, Austin Rivers and Stephen Curry likely both meet up at family gatherings, as Steph’s brother Seth Curry (who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers) is married to Callie Rivers, the daughter of 76ers head coach Doc Rivers. Maybe at the next get-together, Steph can truly compliment Austin on his trademark night.

Unfortunately, the Knicks lost to the Jazz 108-94, with Rivers failing to add more to his tally in the second half. New York dropped to 8-11 on the season, as the team is now on a three-game skid.
