New York Knicks rookie Mitchell Robinson has had quite an impressive start to his NBA career. On Sunday night, head coach David Fizdale handed the 20-year-old another start against the Washington Wizards.

It was a baptism of fire for Robinson, who went toe-to-toe against veteran big Dwight Howard and left quite an impression on the likely future Hall of Famer.

“My first shot, he blocked it and I was like ‘oh man, okay.' After that, it was like ‘oh, I kind of like this guy,'” Howard said, per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.

Mitchell certainly held his own against the three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, which led Howard to believe that the youngster has a bright future ahead of him.

“He's got a lot of potential,” Howard said. “I wish I had my legs tonight to jump up there with him. A couple times when he was jumping, I was like ‘yeah, I'm not there yet.' Let him have it.”

What's not to like about Mitchell Robinson and the youthful exuberance he brings to the court? Coach Fizdale likes him so much he appears to have secured the starting gig for the foreseeable future, sending Enes Kanter to the second unit.

In eight appearances for the Knicks thus far, the rookie is averaging a serviceable 6.0 points on 63.3 percent shooting, 4.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 18.1 minutes per contest. Robinson's confidence should only grow as he gets more playing time under his belt, so his upside is definitely something the Knicks faithful can smile about.
