Earlier this season, consensus No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson made his first appearance in New York City's Madison Square Garden, as his Duke Blue Devils defeated the 12th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders, 69-58.

Williamson apparently enjoyed his MSG debut, and in a recent interview with Devin Gordon of GQ, the 18-year-old shared what his experience was like playing in The Garden for the first time in his career:

GQ: What was it like to play at Madison Square Garden as a teenager?

Zion Williamson: It was incredible. The Garden—that’s where big names are made. The arena’s beautiful. Like how it’s kinda like darkish everywhere except that rectangle? The rectangle is just lit up. I love it.

Williamson obviously enjoyed himself, and his 17-point, 13-rebound performance (in just 25 minutes of action) on the evening is simply testament to this fact.

Zion raving about The Garden is exactly what New York Knicks fans need to hear right now. They are currently in the midst of another horrendous season, but if all things go according to plan, things could be very different this time next year.

New York is one of the favorites to land the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will just need some lottery luck to get it. By recently trading away Kristaps Porzingis, the team also opened up enough cap space to sign two superstars in the summer, so perhaps the creation of a new Big 3 in The Big Apple might just be brewing.
