There has been plenty of smoke surrounding Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant regarding his free agency this summer. It feels like a foregone conclusion around the NBA that Durant will be packing his bags and taking them to the New York Knicks, and FOX Sports' Colin Cowherd is doing his best to turn that smoke into fire:

This comes after ESPN's Stephen A. Smith claimed a 95% chance of Durant and Kyrie Irving joining forces with the Knicks this summer. Durant even has former and current teammates who think he's heading to New York, and there have been plenty of other rumblings about this going down.

At this point, it would be a shocker if Durant stays with the Warriors, though they're still holding out hope he'll consider sticking around. However, they've heard all this noise and have even more inside info about the situation, so they should be prepared if he ultimately does bolt for New York.

For now, Golden State is just hoping Durant will be back soon for the Western Conference Finals and the Portland Trail Blazers. While the Warriors finished off the Houston Rockets without him, Durant was playing at a ridiculous level before his calf injury.

As for the Knicks, they're currently hoping to win the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Winning the lottery on Tuesday will put them in position to draft Zion Williamson, or perhaps trade that top pick for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis, potentially setting up a new Big Three with Durant, Irving and Davis.
