Joakim Noah was part of a lot of headlines earlier this month when it was reported that he will not be on the floor for the New York Knicks until further notice. The development stemmed from an altercation he and Jeff Hornacek had. A new side to the story has now emerged though, with the veteran head coach apparently being the first one to shove.

That was indeed the case, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. However, it was also clarified in the report that no punches were thrown by both parties involved and that cooler heads prevailed as they were separated right after.

“Noah was banished from the Knicks after an altercation with coach Jeff Hornacek during a practice last month. The disagreement stemmed from Noah’s lack of playing time, and it turned physical the day after he logged only five minutes against the Warriors.”

“While no punches were thrown, the Daily News learned that Hornacek was the first to shove Noah before they had to be separated.”

The former 2014 Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Star has been plagued by an injury to start the 2017-18 NBA season and also received limited playing time when healthy. He has only seen action in seven games so far this year, with averages of 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 5.7 minutes.

Noah's future remains unclear especially with what the Knicks want to do with him. He is only 32 years old and could still be a solid contributor for any team that will acquire his services should he be bought out by the team. His former teammate, Jimmy Butler, is in touch with the disgruntled big man and made it known that he wants to return to action soon.
