Anthony Davis could reportedly look to sign with the New York Knicks next summer when he becomes a free agent if the Los Angeles Lakers implode in 2019-20, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.

Davis is widely expected to decline his 2020-21 player option worth $28,751,775. Many around the league would be surprised if Davis doesn't re-sign with the Lakers on a long-term deal, but it looks like the All-Star big man could have his eyes on the Knicks should the Lakers not meet his expectations.

The 2020 free-agent pool is short on stars, but they could be one of the favorites for big fish Anthony Davis if the Lakers implode. Rich Paul, Davis’ agent, likes the idea of his client in New York, according to a source.

The Knicks were on Anthony Davis' preferred list of teams when he requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. New York could be one of the only teams in the NBA that could create enough cap space to sign Davis next summer.

Knicks fans who are reading this aren't going to get their hopes up. This past season, everyone thought Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were going to sign with the Knicks. Instead, the two stars signed with the other team in New York City, the Brooklyn Nets.
