With how things are shaping up with the New York Knicks right now, it would not be surprising if this team ends up making some major moves prior to the trade deadline. It's no secret that the Knicks are trying to find an exit strategy for their botched Kemba Walker experiment and at this point, New York reportedly has its eye on a former Sixth Man of the Year winner.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks are supposedly keeping tabs on Houston Rockets veteran Eric Gordon:

Gordon is on a long list of potentially available players the Knicks have talked about internally, according to a source. The 3-point shooting guard isn’t a fit for the rebuilding Rockets, as he turns 33 on Christmas Day.

There is no mention in the report if Kemba Walker is going to be involved in a potential trade with the Rockets. However, what is being reported is that Derrick Rose may have a hand to play in a potential push for Gordon.

The Post reported in 2016 — after Rose was traded to the Knicks — that he was trying to recruit the then-free agent Gordon to New York. Gordon eventually signed a deal with New Orleans.

Rose and Gordon have a bit of history between them. They used to be teammates many years ago for an AAU team named the Mean Street Express. The pair even earned the moniker of “The Eric and Derrick Show” and are widely considered to be one of the most outstanding AAU backcourt pairings of all time.

Adding a veteran like Gordon will not propel the Knicks to championship relevance, but he could be the piece they need to take a significant step forward. At this point, it just feels like the Knicks have to do something.
