Boston Celtics backup point guard Terry Rozier will become a restricted free agent after this season ends, and the New York Knicks reportedly like the Celtics guard a lot, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

With Kyrie Irving expected to re-sign with the Celtics in the offseason, Rozier could look to leave Boston since he has made it known he wants to be a starting point guard in the NBA. As a restricted free agent, the Celtics can match any offer sheet Rozier signs with another team if they offer him a $4.23 million qualifying offer.

Terry Rozier started for the Celtics in the 2018 playoffs and flourished. In 19 games during the Celtics’ postseason run, Rozier averaged 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Now relegated to a bench role this season again, Rozier's numbers have regressed. He's averaging just 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Before the season started, Rozier said he believes the Celtics will have a special season and that he doesn't care about coming off the bench. However, there have been numerous times this year where he has appeared frustrated with his lack of minutes.

The Knicks were heavily linked to Irving, but the five-time All-Star announced he's going to stay in Boston, New York has apparently shifted its attention to Rozier. The 24-year-old's restricted free agency will be one to watch for sure.
