The New York Knicks fired head coach Jeff Hornacek late Wednesday night after the 2017-18 regular season had officially come to a close. Now, new General Manager Steve Mills and the Knicks are taking their time and doing an extensive search for the next man who will lead the team on the sidelines.

Over the last few days, names like former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson and former Memphis Grizzlies coach David Fizdale have surfaced as potential candidates to replace Hornacek. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Knicks have added a few other names to give them a grand total of five candidates for the head coaching job: Jerry Steakhouse, coach of the Raptors G-League affiliate, the 905, former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt, and LA Clippers assistant coach (and former Knicks coach) Mike Woodson.

Stackhouse coached the 905 to the 2017 NBA D-League Championship, and was named the Coach of the Year in the D-League that season. He's been eying a potential job in the NBA as a head coach, so this would be a great opportunity for the 18-year NBA veteran guard.

Blatt, as everyone knows, coached the shorthanded Cavs to the 2014 NBA Finals, but fell to the Warriors in six games. He was let go after compiling a 31-10 record with the Cavs in January 2016, with assistant coach Tyronn Lue taking over and leading Cleveland to its first championship in 50 years. He returned to coach in Turkey last season, and was even one of the candidates to coach New York back in 2016 before the Phil Jackson-led Knicks hired Hornacek.

Woodson, who has spent the last few years alongside Doc Rivers and the LA Clippers, actually coached the coached the Knicks from 2011 to 2014, and even coached New York to a 54-28 record in the 2012-13 season.

The Knicks clearly have a lot of options for their new head coach, so it'll be interesting to see who they end up choosing in the next week or two.
