The New York Knicks, despite their standing seemingly having deteriorated since the regular season, remain convinced that they are serious suitors for Kevin Durant in free agency. But with realistic dreams of bringing in the two-time Finals MVP and another max-level free agent almost entirely gone, New York is shifting at least some of its attention to more low-profile free agents.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks have interest in Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill and Detroit Pistons sharp-shooter Wayne Ellington.

If the Knicks sign both of those players – or even if they strike out on them – they have their eyes on two veteran free agents. New York is expected to show interest in veteran guards George Hill and Wayne Ellington when free agency officially begins on Sunday, per SNY sources.

New York also hasn't completely given up hope of signing reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Though behind the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, and LA Clippers in his current pecking order, Leonard is reportedly expected to meet with the Knicks in free agency.

The Bucks waived Hill earlier this week to clear his cap hold, creating additional cap space. There's reportedly still a chance they could re-sign him, something Hill might be interested in given how well he played for Milwaukee after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers in December.

Ellington fell out of favor with the Miami Heat last season before being dealt to the Pistons at the trade deadline. One of the most versatile shooters in basketball, he's also expected to be courted by multiple contenders.
