After an entire offseason of Carmelo Anthony trade rumors, the New York Knicks ultimately traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a 2018 second round draft pick. Anthony, who was only willing to waive his no-trade clause for the Houston Rockets, recently expanded his list of destinations to the Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Before training camp begins, the Knicks will waive Chasson Randle to create roster space for their new additions according to Ian Begley of ESPN:

Randle, who was not selected in the 2015 NBA Draft, appeared in 18 games during the 2016-17 NBA season. He averaged 5.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 12.5 minutes per game during his brief stint with New York.

As Anthony will have a better opportunity to compete for a championship with Russell Westbrook and Paul George in Oklahoma City, New York will have an opportunity to embrace a full rebuild centered around Kristaps Porzingis. With Kanter being the team's fourth center and McDermott only a role player, some will wonder if the Knicks could have gotten a better deal under the circumstances.

Basketball fans will not have to wait long as the two teams will face off against each other in Oklahoma City in the 2017-18 season opener.
