Knicks' shocking Kemba Walker plan after kicking him out of rotation

After being yanked from the rotation altogether, Kemba Walker now faces a dim future ahead with the Knicks.

The New York Knicks made a shocking announcement on Monday after they revealed that Kemba Walker has been yanked out of the rotation moving forward. As it turns out, this was merely a first step in what is looking like the end of Kemba's short-lived tenure in New York.

According to A. Sherrod Blakely of Bleacher Report, the Knicks will now look to trade Kemba Walker ahead of the February trade deadline:

Multiple league sources believe the Knicks will look to trade Walker, whose value on the trade market, much like his production, is at an all-time low.

Walker has had a rough start to his career with the Knicks and it's no secret that he's been pretty bad thus far. However, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau deciding to remove the former All-Star from the rotation entirely came as a major shock for many. As it seems, New York is going to take it a step further by offloading the 31-year-old point guard.

Walker joined the Knicks last summer as a free agent and it was a homecoming of sorts for the Bronx native. The fairytale ended there, however, with Walker unable to make a positive impact on his new team.

As the report mentioned, the Knicks cannot expect to get much value from Walker right now. However, this is still a star-caliber point guard we're talking about here and he could end up as a great addition for a contender that is looking to add some depth in their backcourt. It sounds like this is what New York is banking on right now:

League sources believe Walker’s value has the potential to change as the Knicks get closer to the Feb. 10 trade deadline and teams get more desperate to add a veteran who, despite his defensive shortcomings, has shown he can still make shots, albeit in a more limited capacity.

There are more than a few teams out there that could benefit from the acquisition of a guy like Kemba Walker. He clearly isn't the elite point guard he once was, but to be fair, Walker is just two seasons removed from four consecutive All-Star appearances. The 6-foot point guard can definitely be a difference-maker for a championship-seeking side.
