Julius Randle is in the midst of a career year with the New York Knicks this season, leading some to believe his trade value is at its peak. In a recent conversation about Randle's current situation with the Knicks, SNY's Ian Begley spoke about the prospects of New York trading Randle.

“Based on a conversation I’ve had with somebody earlier this month, there are prominent members of the Knicks organization that feel Randle is part of this young core that they’re trying to move forward with,” Begley said on the latest episode of The Putback with Ian Begley. However, you have to take calls if you’re the Knicks ahead of the trade deadline on potential Julius Randle trades just because you have to see what his value is. I’m not saying the Knicks would be motivated to make a deal based on that conversation.”

Throughout his first 30 games with the Knicks this season, Randle is producing career-highs in points (23.2), rebounds (10.9), and assists (5.5) per game. The former first-round selection of the Los Angeles Lakers is seemingly finding his rhythm in New York in his seventh season in the NBA.

While Randle, who turned 26 years old in November, could be viewed as a trade piece, the Knicks believe he is part of their core going forward. New York likely wants him to be paired with RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Mitchell Robinson.

Of course, as Begley pointed out, the Knicks have to do their due diligence by at least listening to offers to see what Randle's value is on the trade market. But despite the interest he'll likely get in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, New York seems set on keeping Randle around for the long haul.
