The last three seasons for the New York Knicks under then-team president Phil Jackson had many issues stemming both and off the court.

One of the areas that may have been a major problem area was his work in the meetings with free agents as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN recently revealed that Jackson was unprepared during these sitdowns. (h/t Dan Feldman of NBC Sports)

I heard some horror stories about Phil in presentation situations with players – unprepared, just disorganized. And sometimes, he’d have Steve Mills in there, who’d try to re-direct him. But I know of a couple players who walked out of meetings in a couple different free-agent scenarios and, “Wow, that was Phil Jackson? That’s not how I imagined he’d be.”

This just adds another wrinkle to what turned out to be a disastrous situation all the way through that had a major impact on the team's shortcomings on the court. As timed continued to roll on, the more that Jackson's presence over the franchise became a larger issue.

He had a major role in shaping the roster while also attempting to implement part of his triangle offense within head coach Jeff Hornacek's offensive system. This coupled with the team's struggles last season only made the things worse that were heightened by questions concerning Carmelo Anthony's future in New York.

It was simply a matter of time before the Knicks were going to part ways with Jackson as it became more glaring that it was like fitting a square peg into a round hole. His dealings with Anthony just happened to be the final straw for the organization to finally part ways with him.
