Third-year point guard Dennis Smith Jr. is reportedly seeking his way out of the New York Knicks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Charania's report comes hours after SNY's Ian Begley reported several Knicks players could be looking for a way out, given the Knicks' disappointing 8-24 start to the season and the clear lack of stability within the franchise.

The Knicks are also reportedly willing to trade anyone not named RJ Barrett or Mitchell Robinson, including former lottery pick Kevin Knox.

Smith is only a year into his tenure with the Knicks after the blockbuster trade that saw New York part with Kristaps Porzingis. Rival teams believe Smith prefers to move on and have made recent inquiries. Among them, the Minnesota Timberwolves are believed to be in the market for his services, considering Jeff Teague's recent demotion to the bench.

Minnesota would give Smith a fresh start, instead of being mired in a tough situation splitting minutes with Elfrid Payton and Frank Ntilikina as part of New York's game of musical chairs at the position.

Payton seems to have the starting spot locked down, despite dealing with recent injuries, something that could enable teams to make offers for Smith, who is plenty willing to find another place to call home.
