The New York Knicks hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and many have already written them down as taking Duke star R.J. Barrett. While there is still a good chance that Barrett will end up being the pick, there is another player that is on the team's radar.

According to a report from Ian Begley of SNYtv, there are some in the Knicks' front office who are “high” on Texas Tech star shooting guard Jarrett Culver.

Culver would be a very intriguing pick for the Knicks at No. 3. He had a huge career at Texas Tech and there is no denying that his game should translate well to the NBA level. Barrett certainly seems to have more “superstar potential” at this point in time, but Culver is a great prospect as well.

During the 2018-19 season with Texas Tech, Culver ended up averaging 18.5 points per game to go along with 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He shot 46.1 percent from the field overall and knocked down 30.4 percent of his three-point attempts. During the 2017-18 season with the Red Raiders, Culver connected on 38.2 percent of his three-point attempts.

Needless to say, the fans in New York would have a very mixed reaction about the team passing on Barrett for Culver. It wouldn't be popular off the bat, but both prospects would be good fits for what New York needs.

The Knicks cannot afford to miss with this pick, however, especially after being forced to trade Kristaps Porzingis this year at the trade deadline. New York is expected to be very active in free agency, with many thinking that Kevin Durant will end up signing with the Knicks.

No matter what ends up happening in free agency, the Knicks need to make a good selection in the draft. Culver would be able to slide in immediately at shooting guard and could end up being exactly what the doctor ordered for the Knicks' franchise.
