A person close to Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti believes his relationship with Thunder owner Clay Bennett is such that if he wants to leave for the New York Knicks or another organization, he’ll be allowed to even while under contract with OKC, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

Bennett and Presti have worked together for 12 years.

The Knicks fired head coach David Fizdale last week and are widely expected to move on from president Steve Mills at the end of the season. Knicks general manger Scott Perry's fate is unknown at the moment.

Mills was appointed as the Knicks’ interim general manager when Phil Jackson was fired back in June of 2017. He became president after hiring Perry away from the Sacramento Kings.

Presti has been with the Thunder since 2007. He's one of the best execs in the league. Members of the Knicks are said to be fond of Presti, but it's unknown if Presti has interest in leaving his stable position with the Thunder for a murky one with the Knicks.

New York is 5-20 on the season. They defeated the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday to snap a 10-game losing streak. Mike Miller is the interim head coach.
