While he remains a free agent, 10-time All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony has been practicing in an informal setting with the New York Knicks, the team he spent six-plus seasons with. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Anthony's NBA longevity, the former Knickerbocker is apparently helping current team members, including the recently signed power forward Julius Randle.

Randle, 24, signed a three-year deal with New York in the offseason worth north of $60 million. As a throw-in to the former Los Angeles Lakers lottery pick's new contract, it looks like, are free footwork lessons from former league scoring champ in Anthony.

Basketball trainer Tyler Relph shared the video on Instagram of Instructor Melo teaching the 6-foot-9 Randle the intricacies of facing up to the rim.

Randle spent last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he thrived at times being the star of Alvin Gentry's offense, particularly when now-Laker Anthony Davis was sidelined. The new Knick Randle averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in 2018-19. Next up, head coach David Fizdale's team has high hopes for the southpaw former Kentucky Wildcat to anchor an offense featuring point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and 2019 third-overall selection R.J. Barrett.

Anthony can certainly help in that regard, however. Previously Melo practiced with the Brooklyn Nets, fueling speculation that the former Team USA teammates in Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, and Kevin Durant would be back together again in the New York outer-borough. It's unclear what role Carmelo expects to have to play in his next tenure in the Association, with prior rumors circulating that he still viewed himself a star and not a bench player.
