Kobe Bryant is arguably a top 10 player in NBA history. Many experts often debate on this topic, but hate or love the man, you have to give him respect for the things he accomplished as a player.

He held the three-point record in one game until Stephen Curry broke it just recently. He also scored the most points in the NBA since Wilt Chamberlain's 100, when he torched the Raptors for 81.

Not to mention the five championship rings, which all took a lot of hard work and dedication. Interestingly, something inside Bryant told him he was going to be great from early on in his life.

Check out highlights of his 81 points:

Roland Lazenby, an author who spent time following Kobe Bryant's father while he was playing professional basketball around had this to offer up, via Silver Screen and Roll:

“Kobe was this little kid who went everywhere.  He’d travel with the team buses and by the time he was 10 — I went to Italy to do the interviews — and one of Joe’s former teammates said that one day, a 10-year old Kobe was riding on the bus with them and that he looked at this guy, and he looked his father, Jellybean, and he said ‘I’m gonna be better than both of you guys.”

Those were large aspirations from a child so young. Kids in general have the propensity for moments like these, but very few of them actually live up to their promise. It shows that Kobe Bryant knew within himself that he was going to be great, and one of the main reasons he was able to do so was his impeccable work ethic.

He estimated as a child that he would spend 30 hours a week just practicing the game because that was his escape of being frustrated living in Italy, where he felt so out of place.

Kobe Bryant ultimately will go down as one of the best in Lakers history, alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson. It just goes to show that if you believe in yourself and are willing to work hard enough, you can truly accomplish anything you put your mind to and Bryant's Mamba Mentality shows that.
