Rob Pelinka, who is the general manager of the Los Angeles Lakers, was once the agent of purple and gold great Kobe Bryant. It is why it is not shocking that the latter gave the former some advice before he took the job of overseeing the Los Angeles rebuild.

In an interview on ESPN 2 during the NBA Draft Combine, the Lakers GM relayed this little nugget that Kobe Bryant passed down to him:

“Your biggest challenge is to be patient.”

Not exactly world-shattering advice, as being patient in one's job can be the sort of information that could be relayed to anyone.

On Thursday, Rob Pelinka also shared a story about how he was trying to highlight to Lozno Ball how bodies mature in the NBA.

“We sat down with a picture of MVP and First-Team All-NBA type players,” Pelinka recounted. “We said, ‘Here was their body when they were 20. Here’s their body when they were 23 and they became All-Stars or MVPs. What do you see in that transformation?’ And it was a commitment to the weight room and getting strong.”

To be clear, his advice to his young players happened during the team's exit interview process that happened when the season was over.

The Lakers, who are still very much in rebuild mode, but will likely try to target some high-profile free agents this summer. Whether or not the long rumored marriage between the team and Paul George comes to fruition, or if the stories franchise can lure LeBron James to the warm coast, remains to be seen.
