Minnesota Timberwolves' rookie and new point guard Kris Dunn was asked earlier by ESPN's Ian Begley about his first big purchase, and this was his response:

[A house] for my brother. Me and my brother, we’ve been through a lot growing up and he’s starting a family. I think the best way to start a family is to have a nice home to create that family.

At first it [buying my brother a house] was exciting. Now it’s just like, ‘This is what I’m supposed to do.' He'd done a lot for me growing up, he was my first father before I actually met my father. So he deserves it. He’s always been my greatest supporter, he’s always helped me through the process so, really, he don’t even have to say ‘thank you.' I know he will, I know he’s going to appreciate it, but it’s just coming from my heart.

Kris, his brother John, and their mom Pia left their home in Connecticut for Alexandria, Virginia. Their mother was usually in trouble with the law, and was sometimes put in jail for a day or two for minor offenses. She got arrested for a longer period of time, and the boys were left alone. They tried to survive on their own, but it wasn't much help. But the break they needed was soon coming.

Due to the dire situation the children were in, Pia contacted the boys' father, a man named John Seldon. Seldon had tried his hardest to find his family but the courts weren't helping him.

The two Johns were allowed to meet, where the older one would get basic necessities to live, and give them to the younger John. But when Seldon got home, he called some of those numbers he originally contacted to find the boys and bring them back to Connecticut, with legal custody.

After some adjustment, the boys got close and began their new life in Connecticut, with a new brother and two new sisters.

With that type of relationship, John is sure lucky to have a brother like Kris, and Kris is lucky to have a brother like John.
