Since the end of the 2016-17 season, there has been plenty of chatter surrounding Kristaps Porzingis‘ long-term future with the New York Knicks.

There have been no shortage of twists and turns along the way, but Porzingis voiced his long-term commitment to the team last weekend at a basketball camp in Latvia that was attended by around 250 children, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

“I feel that it is the best place to win. And if you win in New York, you are king. For the last two years, I have had so many positive emotions here that this is where I want to stay and that this is where I want to win.”

This is a far cry from all the reported frustration with the current situation surrounding the organization. The dismissal of team president Phil Jackson earlier this month possibly played a significant part in his renewed dedication to New York.

It's another step in the right direction as Porzingis on Friday afternoon had “liked” a photoshopped picture on Twitter of Kyrie Irving in a Knicks uniform a few hours after it was revealed the team was one of the preferred trade destinations for the All-Star point guard.

The 21-year-old is expected to assume a much larger role in the team's future after showing continued progress in his second season averaging 18.1 points on 45 percent shooting from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc with 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.
