Washington Football Team's starting quarterback Kyle Allen sustained an injury that forced him to be carted off the field in their Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants. Despite the incident, the team along with Allen remain optimistic as the injury was only projected to be of minor severity and was diagnosed as a dislocated ankle and chipped bone, as per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport.

Kyle Allen exited and headed straight to the locker rooms in the first quarter of the game where he ended with 62 passing yards on 5-of-7 passes completed. Washington head coach Ron Rivera eventually slotted veteran gunslinger Alex Smith under center and generated a total of 325 passing yards on a 24/32 passing clip along with a passing touchdown.

The recently named offensive captain in wide receiver Terry McLaurin produced 115 receiving yards on seven receptions and a touchdown scored for his team. Despite the contributions from the players, Washington ultimately fell short in the final frame to succumb via a 23-20 outcome at the hands of Big Blue.

The defeat dropped back Rivera and his men to a 2-6 record while the win improved the Giants' tally to 2-7 midway through their campaign.

Kyle Allen will be ruled out and miss action for the next several weeks but a return on the field is still possible in the latter stages of the season. Alex Smith will continue to handle the playmaking duties for the team as they aim to finish with a respectable campaign in the 2020 NFL season.

The Washington Football Team will be facing the Detroit Lions next on November 16 for Week 10 proceedings.
