To say that Thunder small forward Kyle Singler had a tough year last season would be an understatement.

Singler was a huge weak spot for OKC and had many even calling him one of the worst players in the league. This season will be a new one for Singler, though, and he will be starting fresh.

He has been training every chance he gets and attempt to get back to his old self. The Thunder need him to reach that point too since Kevin Durant has moved on from the team. Singler could become the starting forward for the team or, at least, an essential piece of the bench.

The Duke product recently talked with Erik Horne of The Oklahoman and gave a little insight on the new look Thunder team:

“I think there will be a time when we need to figure out what works best for our team. But style-wise right now, we're an athletic, guard-oriented team with bigs that can defend guards. We'll be an exciting team. We'll be unique in a way that we can put a small lineup out there, but play big as well.”

Singler is spot on about the team there is no doubt they will be guard-oriented. The Thunder will focus their play on both sides of the ball around Russell Westbrook and Victor Oladipo. If the team wants to be successful they will have to find a good small lineup to put on the court and Singler could be a part of that. Singler has the potential to cover several different positions and hit the three ball when he is playing best.

OKC is about to look completely different this season and Singler will be essential to it. If Sam Presti does not trust Singler to find success then the team may look to still make a move for a small forward. Putting the right pieces around their two guards is key for them to find success.
