The Arizona Cardinals have made plenty of noise this offseason, sending waves throughout the NFL. They signed J.J. Watt in free agency and added A.J. Green as well. They went out and drafted Zaven Collins, the stud linebacker from Tulsa, in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They followed that up with taking the dynamic speedster Rondale Moore, out of Purdue.

It's been a busy offseason and one that has provided quarterback Kyler Murray with plenty of weapons moving forward. Yet, it's the young star quarterback that may have the Cardinals a tad worried after his recent comments.

Murray spoke with the media for the first time since the end of last season on Thursday. He was asked many things, per the usual for a QB1. His answer about his future was the one that sent the radars off for many.

First off, this isn't to bury Kyler Murray for saying he still wants to play baseball if given the opportunity. Good for him. However, this isn't your cornerback, your wide receiver or your kicker saying this. It's your franchise quarterback for the Cardinals. A former No. 1 overall pick.

Via CBS Sports, Murray expanded on the idea and the thought.

“I still hold on to the three-sport title,” Murray said, via the team's website. “If the time came where I got to do what I wanted to do, which, I don't know, but I'm leaving it open. I think I can still play [baseball] for sure, but we'll add the gaming on to that. Don't shortchange me, please.” – Kyler Murray.

There's nothing wrong with being outgoing, with wanting to accomplish an array of things. But from the Cardinals perspective, they may be breaking a bit of a sweat.

Murray was a former first-round pick by the Oakland Athletics, before he decided to go the NFL route after the Cardinals drafted him No. 1 overall. His most recent comments suggest he hasn't given up his MLB dreams.

If Murray really would “go for it” if presented an opportunity, the Athletics still have his rights and would likely welcome him with open arms. Perhaps the “opportunity” Murray suggests reflects more around something after his football career and not during it.

We've seen players go this route before, but not recently. Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson are two notable names that pop into mind for most. But neither were a starting quarterback, although Sanders was one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time.

The Cardinals have plenty of reason for optimism entering 2021. The offense is loaded with DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk and Rondale Moore all in the fold at wide receiver. Murray noted it's more weapons than he could ask for, when he was asked about the group.

While the NFC West appears to be loaded with the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers all having legitimate title aspirations entering 2021, the Cardinals can not be forgotten about. It'll be a big year in Murray's development and he has all the weapons one could ask for. Arizona is just hoping he keeps the baseball idea on the back burner.
