The Rams certainly have a long history in the city of Los Angeles, having played in Southern California from 1946 through the 1994 season. While some fans are welcoming them back with open arms, others are waiting for the franchise to prove themselves to the city that they abandoned for two decades.

The product on the field is far from the best, but at least their public relations work is heading in the right direction.

Yesterday, Kobe Bryant played his final NBA game after 20 spectacular seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The entire basketball world embraced the legend, but it was an especially emotional day for the city of L.A.

Early on, like the other franchises in other sports in the Tinseltown, the Rams used social media to make a tribute to the Black Mamba.

However, it was a key decision behind the scenes that might've been the best one of the day for the Rams organization.

Last night, the Rams completed a blockbuster deal with the Tennessee Titans that gives Los Angeles the first overall pick in this year's draft. The Titans collected a huge haul of picks for this year and the next.

Rather than make the announcement once the trade was finalized, the Rams decided to keep to hold off until this morning out of respect for Bryant.

A Rams official told ESPN's Adam Schefter that “Kobe deserved his night. There was no reason for this trade to be announced on his night.”

Surely, some sports fans in Los Angeles won't hear about this, but those that do should be happy with the professionalism and respect paid by the Rams to one of the city's sports icons.
