Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers underwent an extremely public-facing trade demand and trade from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason that practically mortgaged the Lakers’ entire future by focusing on winning now.

With that in mind, Davis, who played for Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics as well as during the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and won gold medals in both instances, opted to not play for the disappointing National Team that recently finished seventh in 2019’s FIBA World Cup.

According to Mark Medina of USA TODAY, Davis is slated to return to the Men’s National Team for the 2020 Olympics.

“Last summer, there was a lot going on: The trade, a contract year, there was a lot I had to factor in for this summer. Next summer, I've got some decisions to make, but I'm already established with the team so I think that would make the difference.”

Of course, Davis’s presence on the National Team would surely make a difference, and multiple big names have already come out and said they will play in the 2020 Olympics with Team USA, including two-time MVP Stephen Curry and All-NBA honoree Damian Lillard.

Steph, Dame and AD is already a formidable core and if you combine that various other big names, the USA would sure to be an international powerhouse in next year’s Olympics.
