After news came out last week that Brook Lopez will be a limited participant in the Los Angeles Lakers' training camp, and will most likely miss most of their preseason games, it now appears like he is finally ready to make his debut for his new team.

The 7-foot center himself admitted that he now feels good, and could play as early as Sunday, when the Lakers square off against the Sacramento Kings inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Lopez also added, via Bill Oram of the Los Angeles Daily News, that he looks forward to the opportunity of competing with his teammates, and get a better feel of how to play alongside them.

“I feel like I could go right now,” said Lopez.

“It’ll be great to finally get in-game and get my feet wet and learn on the fly with guys.”

The 29-year-old has been dealing with back issues, with the Lakers deciding to take a cautious approach on their starting center’s condition, and not rush him to return to action. However, Lopez’s comments can be considered good news for the team’s fans, as he is eager to play in a competitive game to help him get his timing and conditioning back.

Brook Lopez landed with the Lakers early in the summer, as part of the deal that sent D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets. They think highly of him, and believe that he will be a key piece to their quest of making it back to the playoffs.

It’s expected that Lopez will only receive limited playing time should he suit up on Sunday, but it could do wonders for him, especially if he can provide the team with short, but quality minutes.
