The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged from their five-game losing streak with newfound energy, winning five of their last six games. With Anthony Davis sidelined, the Lakers are reaching new heights offensively and have enjoyed a four-game winning streak, their longest of the season. They have scored 130 points three times in this span, all in regulation and in wins.

Moving LeBron James to the center spot seems to have unlocked the Lakers' offense, as they are undefeated with James at the five. As long as they keep rolling, they should continue with this strategy.

Scoring 127 points per game would make the Lakers the best offense by a wide margin. Obviously, that pace is not sustainable but it does give a glimpse into what this small-ball look can do for Los Angeles. James running the offense with other players that can shoot and score has been a recipe for success. He smashed one of Michael Jordan's records as he excels in this new-look Lakers attack.

Stanley Johnson has been a key reason for why the Lakers have been able to make this strategy work. The 25-year-old acts as the center on defense, using his athleticism and versatility to guard the opposing center and switch onto others. In one of the games where James played center, Johnson was unavailable so Trevor Ariza slid into his spot, giving LA more perimeter shooting than it had with Johnson.

Using Johnson and Ariza offers two different looks for Los Angeles: one with a more energetic defense and one with more offensive potency. It would be worthwhile for the Lakers to sign Johnson, who is on a 10-day deal, to a full contract for this season. This new strategy could also inspire them to fully move on from DeAndre Jordan.

It should be noted that the Lakers' run has come against some of the worst defenses in the league. Against teams with bruising, dominant big men like the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets, they may have to revert back to a more traditional lineup. Still, the benefits on offense make it worth trying out against any team.

Putting James at the center position is certainly something the Lakers should continue using. As Davis returns from injury, they can slide him back in at the four and continue their successful experiment.
