A court wanted an assist from Magic Johnson.

The legendary Los Angeles Lakers point guard has reportedly been subpoenaed to stand as witness with regards to a former Michigan State University Spartans football player’s lawsuit against Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

In a report by David Debolt of The Mercury News, Johnson got himself involved in this case because of a tweet he sent out last year, which shows a message of support for the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Attorneys for Jermaine Edmondson, who is suing Green over an alleged 2016 assault, want to question Johnson about a tweet he posted following the incident outside a Michigan restaurant.

The plaintiff, former Spartans cornerback Jermaine Edmondson, is accusing Green of assault tracing back to an incident last year that also involved Edmondson’s girlfriend, Bianca Williams.

Johnson, Green, and Edmondson are all former Spartans.

A misdemeanor assault charge against the Warriors player has earlier been tossed out with Draymond Green only required to pay $560 worth of fine.
