May 16th will be a big day for NBA teams, especially those who are hoping to land one of the top picks in this year's draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of them, as they have a 46.9 percent chance of landing a top-three pick, giving them the chance to add a rookie who can address their needs at the guard or small forward position.

Although they have been consistently linked to Lonzo Ball, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have been reported to be looking at other prospects such as Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, and De'Aaron Fox as well. According to a piece made by Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, the team is open to adding any of them, and not just Ball, who's made it known that he prefers playing for the Lakers.

“Either the Lakers will start locking in on UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, Washington point guard Markelle Fultz, Kansas forward Josh Jackson and under-the-radar Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox—the four players they are most considering in the top three, according to league sources—or they won't.”

“With the third-worst record in the NBA last season, the Lakers are believed to be open-minded to the possibility that Jackson or Fox could be an even better choice than one of the current consensus top two, Ball or Fultz.”

All aforementioned players are very talented and any one of them could definitely improve the Lakers' roster. But it will be up to Johnson, Pelinka, and even head coach Luke Walton to assess who they think is the best fit.

Whoever they select could be in line for major playing time as the Lakers are in need of help at the positions those four highly-touted prospects are playing.
