Prior to the Los Angeles Lakers' 123-107 against the Chicago Bulls, their win-loss record was 30-36.

That is the exact same record they had on the 12th of March last year.

At first glance, it might not be a big deal, until you realize that they have signed four-time MVP LeBron James last summer.

This season, the Lakers had high expectations after bringing in LeBron, and during the beginning of it, they have shown a lot of promise. They were fourth in the Western Conference standings back in December, until James suffered a groin injury that forced him to sit out a total of 18 games.

The struggles then began for the purple and gold. What made things worse was the fact that their second best playmaker, veteran guard Rajon Rondo had to sit out the same time LeBron did due to a broken finger that required surgery.

The Lakers weren't able to recover from that.

The young core, led by Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, tried to rally the Lakers to victories, but it was clear that they weren't getting enough support from the bench, which consisted of Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, and the now traded Michael Beasley.

So here we are, six months into the season, and the Lakers are bound to miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year.

What was thought to be a turnaround year became a season filled with disappointments in La-La-Land.

But, the Lakers are once again expected to become major players in this June's free agency, and with enough cap space to sign another superstar to pair with LeBron, there's a lot of optimism in Los Angeles, that all the frustrations will end soon.
