The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the lowly New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. Adding injury to the insult in this case, Lakers guard Alex Caruso was elbowed in the face by Knicks guard Allonzo Trier, though the former does not think that the latter tried to injury him on purpose.

The Lakers lost to the Knicks by a score of 124-123, and Caruso had a positive attitude after the crushing loss, even after being struck in the face.

Because the Lakers have continued to struggle this season, they will likely not be participating in the postseason festivities. As a result, the Lakers will face a longer offseason, something that superstar forward LeBron James is looking forward to. James believes that a longer offseason will be beneficial for both him and his Lakers teammates.

“Absolutely, said James, via Harrison Faigen of SB Nation. “I’ve thought about how my summer is going to be. It’s unfortunate that we’re so far out of the postseason right now that it’s looking like we won’t be part of it. I would say the first thing that comes to mind is just taking care of my body. I’ve played a lot of basketball, played a lot of minutes over my 16-year career, so getting a couple more months to take care of my body and refresh my mind and my body is going to be very key going into my 17th year. So, [I’m] looking forward to that.”

As it stands, the Lakers are just 31-39 on the year.
