Los Angeles Lakers point guard Alex Caruso celebrated his 27th birthday on Sunday, and fans took the time to greet him on social media while also looking back at his NBA journey.

From being an undrafted guard out of Texas A&M during the 2016 Draft to being a G-League player, Caruso is now a champion with Los Angeles and has carved out his role for his team while also getting endorsements off the court.

But with the Lakers hosting the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center on Sunday, Alex Caruso needed to help his team get the win to end his birthday the right way. Thankfully, the Purple and Gold did just that, shining on both ends and using a balanced effort to dominate the Dubs, 117-91, for their second straight win.

After the game, Caruso took to Twitter to thank everyone who greeted him and said that he already got the perfect gift: a Lakers win.

The fan-favorite played 21 minutes off the bench in the victory, finishing with 13 points and making five of eight shots, while adding four rebounds and four assists. He was a +16 for Los Angeles. The Lakers moved up to 24-11 for the season and into the second spot in the Western Conference (helped by a Los Angeles Clippers loss on Sunday).

The defending champions have looked more like their old selves since the return of guard Dennis Schroder after being held out due to the league’s health and safety protocols. One of those who benefitted from his return is Caruso, who seems comfortable in his old role of providing quality minutes, good defense and intangibles for the Lakers.

He may have given up a four-point play to the Warriors’ Steph Curry earlier in the game, but picking up a win more than made up for it and ended his birthday on a high note.
