The Los Angeles Lakers were a tad shorthanded on Thursday as they faced off against the Miami Heat in a rematch of the 2020 NBA Finals. As such, new LA recruit Andre Drummond decided to take on some point guard duties for the defending champs.
Here's a look at Drummond leading a transition break for his team (h/t Lakers on Twitter):

Drummond's hustle paid off quite well in this particular play as it sparked a mini-run for the Lakers:
Getting his hands on loose balls is one of Andre Drummond’s biggest strengths, and he just stole an inbounds pass, then fed KCP for a transition layup.
Matthews added his 2nd 3 moments later as LAL got within 3 at 20-17, thanks to a 7-0 run.

Drummond suited up for his new team for just the second time on Thursday following a three-game absence due to a toe injury. His return could not have come at a better time for the Lakers, with Kyle Kuzma (hamstring strain) and Talen Horton-Tucker (suspension) recently joining LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the sidelines. Needless to say, LA's roster is pretty much decimated right now.
Things only get tougher for the Lakers moving forward with the team set to face off against the mighty Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. This contest would have served as a preview of a potential Finals matchup between two of the most heavily favored teams this season. Unfortunately, the Lakers will be without their best players as they try to upset Kevin Durant and the Nets.
