Los Angeles Lakers’ recently acquired center Andre Drummond flexed his skills against Brooklyn Nets’ fellow buyout acquisition LaMarcus Aldridge on Saturday. The newest Laker scored a dribble hook shot in front of Aldridge’s face, giving his team an advantage in the first quarter.

Drummond and Aldridge were considered two of the biggest acquisitions during the buyout market. When both contenders signed their corresponding players, small market teams were quick to react on the matter. In their defense, Aldridge and Drummond are starters for the Lakers and Nets and are expected to contribute for these two teams heavily moving forward.

For the Lakers, Drummond took over the starting center spot over Marc Gasol. The former Cleveland Cavalier is expected to play more than 30 minutes a night to get acquainted with the team’s system. He played his first game for the defending champions against the Milwaukee Bucks but sadly injured his toenail in the first quarter. Drummond then returned to action last Thursday versus the Heat and managed to score 15 points along with 12 rebounds.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Drummond will play alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Davis, who has missed more than 20 games this season, is reportedly going to be back in the next 7-10 days. Meanwhile, James is still sidelined for the next couple of weeks as he nurses his high ankle sprain injury.

The Lakers are hoping to get their superstars back just in time for the playoffs, where they will defend their title. They’re clearly not going to finish as the top seeded team in the Western Conference but the team has made it clear that the standings is the least of their concerns right now.
