Even before the Los Angeles Lakers went on a flurry of moves over the past week, it was clear that Andre Drummond‘s future in LA had already come to an end. He didn't exactly have an impressive campaign with the Purple & Gold last season, and the general belief was that he was leaving the Lakers once he hit free agency.

Drummond did just that by recently agreeing to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, thereby putting an end to what was a rather forgettable tenure in Hollywood. Drummond has since opened up about his decision to leave LeBron James and the Lakers, and the two-time All-Star was refreshingly honest with his explanation:

“Times is changing, and they made different trades and different changes to their team to where it didn’t make sense for me to go back there,” Drummond said during his introductory press conference for the Sixers, via Sam Leweck of Lakers Daily. “I just took the next best thing after that, and it was to come to Philly. I think it’s a great fit for me.”

Simply put, Drummond knew that the overhaul the Lakers are currently going through has left him on the outside looking in. He knew there was no room for him in LA and it was in everybody's best interest for him to move on.

Drummond experienced a major hurdle in his career last season, but he is still widely considered as one of the top centers in the league (right?). He's going to be teaming up with another premier big man in Joel Embiid now that he's joined the Sixers. So for Drummond's sake, we hope truly hope that he's able to resurrect his career in Philly.
