Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis says it was tough to leave the New Orleans Pelicans, but that “it was my time.”

Davis requested a trade from the Pelicans this past season. New Orleans opted not to trade the superstar big man at the 2019 February trade deadline, creating an awkward dynamic. Davis was playing for a team which knew he didn't want to be there. AD was on a minutes restriction and didn't play in back-to-backs to close out the season.

Anthony Davis finally got his wish when David Griffin traded him to the Lakers. Now, AD forms a lethal duo with LeBron James in LA. Laker fans are hoping The Brow and The King can bring banner No. 17 to the franchise this upcoming season.

Davis only won one playoff series with the Pelicans, but the organization failed to put consistent talent around him. AD finished his Pelicans career with averages of 23.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 466 games. He's the franchise leader in points, field goals, free-throws, rebounds, blocks, points per game and player efficiency rating.

The Lakers are title contenders with Davis next to LeBron. The Pelicans, meanwhile, got a great haul in return for AD and drafted Zion Williamson with the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. In the end, both Davis and New Orleans are happy.
