LOS ANGELES – After suffering two losses at the hands of Kawhi Leonard and the L.A. Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers headed into Sunday's game against their division rivals hoping to avenge their prior losses. Although the players and head coach Frank Vogel downplayed the importance of this regular-season game, it had a playoff atmosphere at Staples Center with fans cheering on two of the best teams in the NBA.

Fortunately for the Lakers, Frank Vogel's squad was able to come out on top due to some solid performances from superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Following his 30-point night against the Clippers, Davis talked about the possibility of facing this team at some point during the playoffs.

“Just like that,” Davis said of a potential playoff series with the Clippers. “Chippy. Defensive-minded. Scrappy. The best type of game coming out of there with bloody lips and scratches. Guys taking charges. Guys chirping. Those are the type of games that you live for. The fun games in basketball that every player in this locker room wants. It was a fun game tonight.”

Although it was a home game for the Clippers at the Staples Center, it definitely didn't sound like it was in the arena. Lakers fans showed up in droves as per usual and helped drown out cheers and boos from the Clippers faithful in attendance.

Davis spoke about what it is like being a Laker playing away games. The superstar admitted that it never feels like the team is too far away from home due to the fan base traveling as well as they do.

“We feel like everywhere we go is a home game,” Davis said. “Laker Nation always travels.”

With this win over the Clippers, the Lakers improve to 49-13 on the season. It was another huge win for the storied franchise as it was one of two consecutive victories over elite NBA teams with the first coming against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.

The way things are shaping up in the Western Conference, the Lakers and Clippers could be headed for an epic clash in the Western Conference Finals. These two teams may very well finish the regular season at No. 1 and No. 2 with these two teams likely playing two teams before they finally meet each other for a chance to advance to the NBA Finals.
