Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis joined the exclusive company of past NBA greats after his performance in the 2020 Finals.

As StatMuse's Justin Kubatko points out, Davis became just the fourth player in league history to average at least 25 points per game on 50/40/90 shooting splits in a Finals series — joining fellow Laker Magic Johnson (1987), Penny Hardaway of the Orlando Magic (1995), and Kevin Durant, who accomplished the feat twice for the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018).

Hardaway's Magic were swept in the NBA Finals by the Houston Rockets, but Johnson, Durant, and now Davis all earned rings from their stellar performances on the game's biggest stage.

Davis, despite nursing an ankle issue during the series, was incredible on both ends of the floor in his first Finals action. He averaged 25.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game against the Miami Heat over six games, all while shooting 57.5% from the field, 48.3% from 3-point range (8-for-19) and an outstanding 95.2% from the free-throw line (30-for-32).

Yet, those historically productive numbers weren't enough to earn him Finals MVP honors, which went to his good friend, LeBron James.

The 27-year-old added 19 points (7-for-17 FG) and 15 rebounds, two steals and a block in the Lakers' title-clinching victory in Game 6 on Sunday.

In the regular season, Davis helped lead the Lakers to the top seed in the Western Conference (52-19) in his first year in L.A., averaging 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.5 steals on .503/.333/.846 shooting splits — earning a place on the All-NBA First Team.

In the bubble playoffs, he elevated his game to another level, averaging 27.7 points, 9.7 boards, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game on .571/.383/.832 shooting splits.

Davis can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, or he can pick up his player option worth about $28.8 million for the 2020-21 season. There's no reason to expect him to leave the Lakers.
