The Los Angeles Lakers were in an understandably jovial mood on Sunday, following an impressive victory against the Dallas Mavericks. L.A. held off a resilient Mavs side in the Staples Center, ending the game with a 108-95 final score. Following the contest, Lakers big man Anthony Davis was asked what gift he would be giving the birthday boy, LeBron James, who turns 35 today, December 30th. Reporters caught the pair in quite a good mood, as the two exchanged jokes following the non-basketball related question.

Both Davis and LeBron were all business against the Mavs, though, with the former leading his team yet again to another victory with a game-high 23 points (8-of-12 fro the field, 7-of-9 from the line), nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in 36 minutes of play.

For his part, James had an off shooting night, going just 3-of-10 from the field for 13 points. The celebrant did, however, post two 3-pointers, six rebounds, 13 assists, and a couple of steals, as he was still able to find ways to help his team to the victory despite his inefficiency from the field.

The Lakers were also able to successfully prevent Mavs rising star Luka Doncic from another explosive performance, as the second-year man went 5-of-14 overall and 0-of-6 from rainbow territory, en route to 19 points. The reigning Rookie of the Year winner also logged four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals, but he did also turn the ball over six times throughout the evening.

This victory now makes it two straight for L.A., as they work to bounce back from their recent mini-slump over the past two weeks.
