Once again, the Los Angeles Lakers were snubbed by the voters in the end-of-season awards. While this might be an issue for Purple and Gold fans, big man Anthony Davis isn't surprised that Rob Pelinka didn't win Executive of the Year.

Per Harrison Faigen of SB Nation, Davis seemingly downplayed the Pelinka snub for the Executive of the Year award. He knows that the general manager has put in some good work to assemble this powerhouse Lakers squad.

“Great GM. Great executive… I know and entire organization knows the work he's put in to put this team together… Awards don't matter in the end. Championships do. And he put our team in a position to be one win away.”

Davis seems to have accepted that the Lakers weren't the favorites to win any individual accolades this season. But for him, all these awards are trivial compared to winning the championship.

Lawrence Frank won the Executive of the Year award with a total of 61 points which included 10 first-place votes. To recall, Frank was able to acquire both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the offseason. This was one of the blockbuster deals that transformed the Clippers from a mid-tier team to an elite squad.

Pelinka, meanwhile, received just a total of 14 points with one first-place vote. Among the transactions Pelinka was responsible for was the blockbuster Davis trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, including the acquisitions of trusty veterans Avery Bradley and Danny Green. He also got Dwight Howard — a player who basically rejuvenated his career upon the signing.
