LOS ANGELES – The NBA world was rocked this past summer when the Los Angeles Lakers were able to pair LeBron James with fellow superstar Anthony Davis. The dynamic duo was set, and even though many anticipated a potentially lengthy chemistry building process, these two hit the ground running and never looked back.

Davis has fit in seamlessly in Los Angeles with the team now back among the league's elite and a legitimate title contender with the NBA playoffs right around the corner. Despite a disappointing loss on Wednesday to the Brooklyn Nets at the Staples Center, Davis reflected on his time with the Lakers up to this point in his first season with the team.

“It's been fun,” Davis said of playing with the Lakers this season. “There's been a lot of obstacles that we've been through starting with the preseason. We've gotten through it. It's been a great experience for me thus far, and I think we're right where we want to be. Our team is constantly improving and getting better, so this first year for me has been nothing but amazing.”

LeBron couldn't have a better teammate to play alongside during his 17th year in the league, as he has been able to take his game to another level. The 35-year-old is currently leading the NBA in assists at 10.6 per game while defying the odds at his age and making a case for a fifth MVP award.

Davis spoke briefly about James' impact on the floor and how he creates open shots for himself as well as his teammates due to his passing ability.

“A lot his shots are going to be open,” Davis said. “Not everybody is going to get a lot of open shots. His ability to get in the paint and draw the defense just like he did here with three guys on him. It's our jobs to finish plays, to move forward, knowing that he draws a lot of attention. We have to be shot-ready.”

With these two having incredible chemistry while remaining healthy with the playoffs, the Lakers will be a serious threat to make a deep run this season. Only time will tell whether they can continue their success in the postseason and if a 17th banner will ultimately be the result for this storied franchise.
