The Los Angeles Lakers were outstanding on Friday, as they secured a 126-114 win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. However, Anthony Davis was not exactly in a celebratory mood after the contest, as he knows that there's still a long way to go in this series.

Davis downplayed Friday's victory while also heaping praise on Denver's resiliency throughout the playoffs:

Clearly, Anthony Davis is not letting up here. He has his eyes on the big picture, and their victory in Game 1 — although impressive — is simply a stepping stone towards their ultimate goal.

Davis was tremendous in the Lakers' conference finals opener, dominating the game on both ends of the floor. The seven-time All-Star finished with a game-high 37 points on 12-of-21 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds and four assists. Simply put, the Nuggets had no answer to Davis as he pretty much had his way against Denver all night long.

AD also did a stellar job on Nikola Jokic, who was hounded with foul trouble for a significant portion of the game. Davis did get a lot of help from LA's other bigs in JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard, as they mounted a team effort in containing the Nuggets superstar.

Then again, as Davis himself said above, now is not the time to get complacent. In the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Nuggets trailed by 3-1 before coming from behind in both instances and reaching the West Finals.

Sure enough, the Lakers have no intention to be the latest victims of the comeback kids. Eyes on the prize, always.
