The Los Angeles Lakers are listing power forward Anthony Davis and point guard Rajon Rondo as questionable for Monday’s game against the Celtics in Boston, according to the team’s official injury report.

Davis has missed the past five games as he’s still recovering from the gluteus maximus contusion he suffered in a blowout win over the New York Knicks on Jan. 7. During this recent stretch without their leading scorer, the Lakers have surprisingly gone 4-1.

When Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked by Dave McMenamin of ESPN about how anxious he’s been in light of Davis’ absence in the lineup, he responded:

“On a 1-10 (scale)? Twenty? Thirty? Forty? A hundred? Two-hundred? I’m very anxious, but also having the mindset to be very wise and patient and intelligent about an injury to a very important player that we’re not going to rush back.”

The 26-year-old Davis has been phenomenal in his first season with the Lakers, averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He’s been a key reason for the Lakers’ success this season, leading them to a 34-8 record, the top mark in the Western Conference. The Lakers will certainly need him back for this primetime showdown against the Celtics.

Meanwhile, Rondo has missed the past three games with a finger injury he suffered in the Lakers’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 11. Quinn Cook has been getting more minutes in place of Rondo’s absence and has acquitted himself very well. Cook exploded for a season-high 22 points in Wednesday’s loss against the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers are currently in the top seed in the Western Conference standings, and will be seeking to extend their winning streak as they travel to Boston on Monday. The Celtics are currently 27-14, with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference.
